Scabbard chape, based on a find from Iceland. This design pops up often for chapes. There is one from York and one from Norway that are almost the same.
It has a deeply engraved, entwined beast design, with pelleted decoration.
The chape is narrow (although slightly wider than the original, to fit modern re enactment swords. I suggest you don't get a chape to fit an existing scabbard but make a scabbard to fit the chape.
9cm long x 4.5cm wide. Internal measurements are4mm x 13mm
