Disc on bow brooch
A large 6th century Gotlandic brooch from the British museum.
The main body of the brooch features a bird head design either side of the front "Y" shaped inlay panel. The bow part has a punched design and the mother of pearl shell discs are held in place by decorated rivets with a resin inlay.
The garnet panels on the original are simulated by red resin enamel.
