Openwork disc brooch. The disc is divided into sections by two crosses with concave arms, one set upright and one saltire-wise to create an eight-armed star-like motif. The star is decorated with leaf, scroll and foliate ornament. The gap between each of the star’s arms is filled with an openwork, stylised creature in the late Anglo-Saxon ‘Trewhiddle’ style, its neck curving outwards and its head turning under to face the centre of the brooch, the head upright in relation to the edge of the brooch.
The brooch has an attached coiled pin (like original).
The original is in The British Museum and is made of silver.
This is available in Silver or Bronze.
6cm diameter.
